Responding to the letter of request from the head of Marioriaja Village, Marioriwawo District, Soppeng Regency, for counseling and assistance on tilapia culture using biofloc tarpaulin ponds, 19 BDP lecturers from various scientific fields visited Soppeng Regency to fulfill the invitation on October 30, 2021. This activity also involved 15 Aquaculture study program students and three educator officials. By using a tourist bus, the group arrived at Marioriaja Village at 10.00 am. The group was received in the Marioriaja Village office hall by village staff, extension workers, and the farmers. The opening ceremony started at 11.00 AM, opened by the Deputy Regent of Soppeng, Lutfi Halide. The deputy hopes that they will be assisted in developing tilapia aquaculture in their area. Soppeng Regency is a fertile area with abundant water sources. However, they do not understand aquaculture technology. The deputy hopes that the fish farming business can prosper the local community. Hence, he promised to seriously create relevant policies, so that the people could learn and take advantage of the region’s potential. One of them is collaborating with Hasanuddin University, especially the aquaculture study program. Praise to God, the head of the Aquaculture study program, Dr. Ir. Sriwulan welcomed the request enthusiastically. On this occasion, Prof.Dr.Yushinta Fujaya shared his knowledge and experiences about tilapia cultivation innovations, Prof. Dr. Hilal Ansari shared about disease management, and Dr. Edison Saade shares about feed management. Participants seemed very enthusiastic to listen and ask questions. The counseling activity was continued by visiting one of the “Mallomo Sejahtera” cultivator groups, and continued the discussion about tilapia cultivation in biofloc ponds. The group returned to Makassar at 17.00 and safely arrived at 20.30 PM.
