ASP Smart Center

Aquaculture Study Program (ASP) “ASP Smart Center” is a unit under ASP which offers a number of
services and assistances to ASP students. This unit is intended serving ASP students in several academic
issues as a results of ASP regular Self-Evaluation Report (SAR). The general objective of this unit is
assisting ASP students to complete their studies on scheduled. To date, the services provided including
(1) improving students English skill, (2) referencing technique, (3) data analysis, (4) one day final project
proposal writing workshop, etc.

ASP Smart Center activities and condition for each sort of services provided are as follow.

1. Improving ASP student’s English skill.

In the late 2017, ASP established English groups called ASPEC which stands for Aquaculture
Study Program English Community. The students were grouped according to their entry year.
Currently, there are three English groups of ASP students namely ASPEC 2015, ASPEC 2016 and
ASPEC 2017, whereas ASPEC 2018 will be formed soon 2019 students enrolled (in August).
Objectives:

  • ASP student may follow particular subject in ASP delivered in English
  • ASP student participate in English debate within faculty, university and national level
  • ASP graduates meet minimum English score of Scholarship requirements.
  • ASP graduates have sufficient English skill which enable them attending job interview.

Activities:

  • Weekly class meeting and discussion on various topics,
  • Presentation in English,
  • Debate in English etc.

Conditions:

  • Maximum 15 students per group
  • Attending all class meetings and activities
  • Effectively running during academic semester and cease during holidays.
  • Organized and supervised by at least one of overseas graduate ASP lecturers.

2. Referencing technique

Using referencing is a compulsory for any final year ASP student’s internship, project proposal
and bachelor thesis.

Objectives:

  • Improving referencing skill of ASP student
  • Ensure that all ASP students thesis using referencing style

Activities:

  • Referencing class
  • Workshop on referencing using Endnote or Mendeley

Conditions:

  • Minimum participant 10 students
  • Priority is final year (fourth) year students
  • Organized and supervised by ASP teaching staff, appointed by Head of study program.

3. Data analysis

This unit also offers a special class for data analysis for ASP students

Objectives:

  • Improving skill of ASP student in analyzing final project data, interpreting and presenting
    the data, etc.

Activities:

  • Workshop on data analysis

Conditions:

  • Minimum participant 10 students
  • Priority is final year (fourth) year students

4. One day final project proposal writing workshop, etc.

Most of ASP students required long period in preparing their final project proposal, bachelor thesis writing and difficulties in finding interesting final project topics.

Objectives:

  • Improving ASP student capacity in finding research topics and project writing skill.

Activities:

  • One day final project proposal writing workshop

Conditions:

  • Minimum participant 10 students
  • Priority is final year (fourth) year students
  • Organized and supervised by at least one of ASP lecturers.
