Makassar, May 6, 2026 — Alif Afriansyah Secar
In an effort to maintain and enhance academic quality on a global scale, the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries (FIKP) at Hasanuddin University welcomed an international peer reviewer team for a comprehensive field evaluation (site visit) on Wednesday afternoon, May 6, 2026. This crucial agenda, which ran intensively from 16:50 to 18:00 WITA, focused entirely on inspecting, verifying, and ensuring that all academic facilities and infrastructure for the study program meet the stringent standardization required by international accreditation bodies.
Comprehensive Inspection of Research and Academic Facilities
The site visit began with an inspection of the lecture halls to directly observe the utilization of smart classrooms that support interactive, technology-driven learning methods. Following this, the reviewers conducted an in-depth review of specific laboratory clusters, including the fish pathology and parasites laboratory, as well as the fish genetics and ichthyology facilities. At these locations, practical equipment, room capacities, measurement tool precision, and the availability of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) infrastructure were meticulously evaluated to ensure a safe, measurable, and optimal research ecosystem for students.
Verification of Quality Documents Against Field Realities
Beyond physical infrastructure, the review team cross-referenced the actual field conditions with the self-evaluation documents previously submitted by the study program. The accessibility of the faculty reading room, availability of recent international scientific literature, reliability of computing spaces, and the readiness of public student facilities were key points of evaluation. This verification process aims to guarantee that the transfer of knowledge in the classroom is fully supported by an ecosystem that is both dependable and adaptive to modern aquaculture industry advancements.
Commitment to Cultivating Globally Competitive Graduates
By providing internationally certified infrastructure, FIKP Unhas demonstrates its serious commitment to producing exceptional graduates who are ready to be integrated into leading strategic industry partners, such as the Maros Brackishwater Aquaculture Development Center (BPAP Maros), PT. Esaputlii Prakarsa Utama, and other national institutions. The field evaluation, which successfully concluded at 18:00 WITA, further reinforces FIKP Unhas’s position as a premier center of excellence for marine and fisheries higher education on the international stage.
